Amazfit Bip 6: A Budget-Friendly Sport Watch That Punches Above Its Weight

Introduction

If you’re hunting for a no-frills sport watch that won’t break the bank, the Amazfit Bip 6 deserves a close look. Priced under $80, this little square-faced wearable packs features you’d typically expect from devices two to three times its price. We strapped it on, put it through its paces, and came away surprisingly impressed.

In this review, we’ll dive into its design, display, performance during workouts, battery life, and all the extra bells and whistles. By the end, you’ll know whether the Bip 6 is the right companion for your daily adventures, or if you’re better off saving a bit more for a premium model.

Design and Build

The Amazfit Bip 6 borrows the iconic square look that’s reminiscent of other popular smartwatches, but it’s all plastic—lightweight plastic, mind you, weighing in at just 27.9 grams without the band. That makes it easy to forget you’re even wearing it, whether you’re pounding the pavement or at your desk all day.

The frame features aluminum accents around the screen, which add a dash of polish compared to budget watches that go full-plastic. You’ll find two side buttons (one smooth, one textured) for quick control during workouts. The default silicone band is comfortable, though if you have a 22 mm band you love, you can swap it out—just make sure the lugs line up.

Display and Interface

The Bip 6 sports a 1.97-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 390×450 pixels. At around 302 ppi, it’s crisp enough for everyday use, but if you hold it right up to your eyes you’ll notice some jagged edges on text. Still, for the price, it’s a great deal.

Brightness tops out around 2000 nits, so outdoor workouts in bright sunlight pose no problem. There’s also an always-on display mode you can schedule by time of day, plus automatic brightness adjustment that reacts quickly when lighting conditions change.

Fitness and Health Tracking

The Bip 6 comes loaded with the essential sensors: a 6-axis gyroscope, accelerometer, multi-GNSS GPS, optical heart rate monitor, compass, and SpO2 sensor. It lacks an ECG and barometric altimeter, but at this price point that’s totally expected.

GPS Accuracy

Testing alongside a Garmin Fenix 8, the Bip 6 held its own. We ran on roads, trails, and even through urban canyons. The distance readings were consistently within a few percent of the Fenix 8, and the track maps looked clean. Occasionally, you’ll see a tiny zigzag in dense tree cover, but nothing that’ll skew your pace calculations.

Heart Rate Monitoring

The onboard BioTracker 6.0 sensor with PulsePrecision algorithm surprised us with its accuracy when compared to a Polar H10 chest strap. In both steady-state jogging and high-intensity interval sessions, the Bip 6 tracked rapid heart rate changes promptly. If you’re serious about heart-rate zones, this watch will keep you in check.

Battery Life

With a 340 mAh battery, Amazfit claims up to 14 days of normal use, 6 days heavy, or 26 days in power-saving mode. In our tests—with continuous heart rate scans, always-on display for daytime, SpO2 checks, sleep tracking, and roughly 4 hours of GPS workouts—we got about 5 days and 9 hours before it tapped out.

Charging goes via a magnetic puck (you’ll need your own USB-C cable), and takes around two hours for a full refill. That’s not blazing fast, but it’s easy to top up overnight and forget about it.

Connectivity and Extras

Pairing with your phone requires the Zepp app (iOS or Android), which handles data syncing, workout planning, and watchface downloads. There are only six built-in watchfaces, but Zepp offers plenty more—both free and paid—for customization.

You get Bluetooth 5.2 for phone calls (thanks to the built-in mic and speaker), notifications, and data transfer. There’s no Wi-Fi or eSIM option, and the third-party app ecosystem is pretty slim—don’t expect official Spotify or WhatsApp apps here. However, you can use Zepp Flow, the AI-powered voice assistant based on GPT-4o, to set timers or ask fitness questions right from your wrist.

Final Thoughts

At under $80, the Amazfit Bip 6 is a stellar value. It nails the basics—accurate GPS, reliable heart-rate tracking, bright display, and solid battery life—while keeping the cost down with plastic construction and a limited app library. If you need a capable fitness watch without dropping big bucks, this is a top contender.

On the flip side, if you want advanced features like ECG, NFC payments, or a vast third-party app store, you’ll need to look higher up the price ladder. But for most folks, the Bip 6 delivers more than enough power and performance to make it an easy pick for everyday fitness tracking.
