If you’ve been keeping an eye on electrified grand tourers, you probably heard about Audi’s refreshed e-tron GT lineup. Now the brand has just peeled back the curtain on the entry-level e-tron GT quattro, and it comes with a welcome price cut plus a surprise boost in driving range. Think of it as Audi’s way of making this sleek electric sedan a bit more accessible—while still packing enough performance to put a grin on any EV enthusiast’s face.
This new base model slots in under the RS and S variants that debuted back in June, yet it showcases some of the most impressive numbers we’ve seen so far. It’s kind of like getting a smaller-bore engine in a sports car but finding out it actually goes further on a tank of gas. Only here, it’s all battery power and silent acceleration.
Affordability Meets Performance
Audi has set the starting price for the e-tron GT quattro at €119,000 in France, which translates to roughly $130,000 USD depending on exchange rates and local incentives. That’s about a €30,000 saving compared to the top-of-the-line RS e-tron GT performance model. Sure, it’s still a luxury price tag, but if you’re eyeing an electric sedan that doubles as a weekend track toy and weekday commuter, this is one of the more budget-friendly entries.
Despite being the “entry-level” variant, the quattro gets the same hefty battery pack as its pricier siblings: a 105 kWh gross battery (97 kWh usable). Audi has wisely dialed back the peak output a bit—430 kW (584 horsepower) in boost mode—so the energy draw is more conservative. The result? Up to 614 kilometers (about 382 miles) of WLTP range, which outpaces its higher-powered brothers by nearly 20 kilometers. If long stretches of open highway are your thing, this car just might be the ideal companion.
Power and Range That Surprise
On paper, shaving off extra punch might sound like a downgrade. In reality, the gentler power curve in the base quattro helps it sip electrons more efficiently. Audi engineers have tweaked the motor calibration and regenerative braking tune-up to eke out maximum range without compromising the lightning-fast 0–60 mph sprint times we’ve come to expect from modern EVs. You’ll still clear 60 in the low 3-second zone when you punch it.
Fast charging remains unchanged: the e-tron GT quattro can gulp up to 320 kW at compatible stations, enough to go from a 10% charge to 80% in about 18 minutes. On a recent test with a Porsche Taycan cousin, we even clocked a juice-up time closer to 16 minutes, so depending on the charger, you could spend less time parked than you might grabbing a latte.
Shared Porsche DNA
Underneath, the entire e-tron GT family rides on the J1 platform co-developed with Porsche. You could say it’s Audi’s spin on the Taycan formula, with a bit more emphasis on comfort and grand touring ethos. The facelifted design brings a reimagined Singleframe grille, new LED matrix headlights, and fresh exterior accents that give it a subtly aggressive look without screaming track-ready.
Inside, Audi has softened the edges for a more relaxed cockpit vibe. High-resolution digital displays are standard, and quality materials abound—from open-pore wood trims to Alcantara accents. On the chassis front, adaptive air suspension is standard fare, while the optional Sport Suspension Plus 2.0 offers autonomous wheel control for fine-tuned comfort or sharper handling. Although this quattro variant skips the torque vectoring rear axle found in the RS models, it still delivers balanced agility and poise in corners.
What’s Next? A More Affordable Version?
Looking ahead, Audi insiders hint at an even more accessible e-tron GT “single motor” edition. By ditching one of the dual motors for a rear-wheel-drive setup, Audi could push the price down further while nudging the range even higher. This tactic mirrors Porsche’s approach with certain Taycan trims and could help Audi compete more aggressively in a market that’s itching for premium EVs under six figures.
Orders for the e-tron GT quattro open May 15, 2025, in France, and we expect North American markets to follow shortly after. If you’ve been dreaming about an electric GT that ticks the luxury, performance, and range boxes—and you don’t need all of the RS bells and whistles—this might be the sweet spot you’ve been waiting for.
